In the search for something new and interesting, during the mid to late 1990s many British enthusiasts ventured over to Tunisia. Again it was largely down to the fact that much of the network was operated by hauled (or push-pulled) trains with many North American, noisy diesel locos. I made a visit to Tunisia in early 1999 with the help of a cheap package holiday and an excellent value for money rail rover for a week. Much of the system (a mixture of both standard and metre gauge) was covered.
